Alumni inform students about LAE careers at Career DAZE

Batcheller and students in Fountain Lounge
Matthew Batcheller '91, offers advice to students

One of the unique benefits of a Liberal Arts and Education degree is that it offers such a wide variety of career opportunities. Often, however, a graduate may end up changing from an intended career path. Since an LAE degree lends itself to so many career choices, the graduate usually won't need to change the degree to do so. On February 15, 15 alumni came to campus to participate in the College of Liberal Arts & Education's second annual Career DAZE with the intention of explaining to current students how they utilized their degrees and ended up on their career paths.

Alumni met one-on-one with students to offer advice about future employment and career strategies and opportunities. Students reported that alumni and the event were extremely helpful in guiding them toward their educational and career goals. The College plans to offer this event each year. Alumni interested in volunteering as a career presenter next year can contact the Office of Alumni Relations at 313-993-1540 or e-mail UDMgrad@udmercy.edu.
