UDM recognizes two nursing faculty
Professor of Nursing Carla Groh received UDM’s 2012 Distinguished Professor Award and Assistant Professor of Nursing Molly McClelland received the 2012 Faculty Achievement Award at the Annual Faculty Recognition Dinner in November.

Carla Groh
Groh is recognized for her contributions to the nursing profession through her research and teaching. Groh joined the University in 1996 and has taught courses in research and the politics of health care. Her clinical interest is in the area of geripsychiatry and women’s health and she has been involved in multiple research studies and has published numerous articles. She was named a Fulbright Scholar twice. Groh earned her B.S.N. and M.S.N. from Wayne State University in Adult Psychiatric/ Mental Health Nursing and a Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of Michigan.

Molly McClelland
McClelland is recognized for her outstanding teaching, research and community service. She began teaching at UDM in 2008, where she currently serves as junior level nursing coordinator. She is also a clinical instructor at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center, and chief author of Adult Health with NovEx Learning System. McClelland has published extensively and serves on many professional committees and boards. In collaboration with Engineering faculty, she coordinates UDM’s joint engineering-nursing program that supports veterans by creating helpful devices that improve their everyday function. The program includes small teams of engineering and nursing students who work on projects in partnership with Michigan Rehabilitation Services, John D. Dingell Veterans Administration Medical Center and other contacts. First Lady Michelle Obama recognized the program in April as a positive example of nursing care and training. McClelland earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University and her master’s and doctorate in Nursing from Wayne State University.
