Associate Professor of Chemistry/Biochemistry Matt Mio received the 2012 Distinguished Service Award for his "long and meritorious service to the section."
Chemistry/Biochemistry Storeroom Manager Meghann Murray was recognized with the E. Ann Nalley 2012 Regional Award for Volunteer Service to ACS for "contributing significantly to the goals and objectives of the Society through regional activities."
The Salutes to Excellence awards were presented to Associate Professor of Chemistry/Biochemistry Liz Roberts-Kirchhoff for providing a chemistry clinic for the Girl Scouts of America of Metro Detroit for several years, and to Chemistry/Biochemistry Professor and Chair Mark Benvenuto for his work as chair of the Central Regional meeting of ACS.
The designation of all four awards to one institution is unprecedented and highlights the significant contributions UDM's Chemistry Department has made to the local Chemical Society.
