Alumni News

UDM is broadening its recruitment reach with presence at more local and out-of-state college fairs this school year. Several alumni volunteers are assisting in this initiative. This fall, Bill Kozyra ’80, chairman and CEO, TI Automotive, attended the fair at Notre Dame Prep high school, and Paul Spadafora ’91, ’94, Vehicle Line Director/Vehicle Chief Engineering, General Motors, is hosting an upcoming recruitment reception at GM on behalf of UDM and the College of Engineering & Science. Last year, Bob Kilcullen ’69, ’71, and Fran Ferraro ’69, ’71 represented UDM at a high school college fair in Colorado and Matt Dow ’90, Mark Hooper ’81 and Jack Tomani ’82,  participated in the Buffalo National College Fair. thermal research. He currently
heads the project and manages the research team.

Juaquin Nuno Whelan ’00, vehicle chief engineer for North America, Chevrolet Sonic at General Motors Corporation, was the keynote speaker at the SAE dinner meeting, Sept. 15, where he introduced the new Chevrolet Sonic. His positive comments about his UDM education during his presentation were captured and included in the new Engineering Programs recruitment brochure:

“It makes me feel proud that I accomplished the goals I set when I first stepped into the Engineering Building at UDM fresh out of high school.  UDM prepared me well with the co-ops and a balanced, global education to lead in the auto industry. Thanks to the UDM faculty for that.”
