Students, faculty, guests dedicate solar energy system
After about a year, the seven large solar panels on the roof of the Engineering Building have generated over 7,000 kilowatt hours of electricity, nearing the amount of energy required to run the computers in the Engineering PC lab. To celebrate the achievement, UDM held a dedication ceremony around the interactive, real-time display constructed to complement the project. Read
UDM leads a U.S. DOT University Transportation Center
UDM is the lead institution of the Michigan-Ohio University Transportation Center (MIOH UTC), a coalition of five regional universities funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation to address issues of a nation on the move in a global economy. Read
Entrepreneurship program begins
IDEAS (Interdisciplinary Design, Entrepreneurship and Service), the cornerstone course of UDM's entrepreneurship program, is taught by faculty from four disciplines. The goal of the program is to instill an entrepreneurial mindset and competencies aimed at making a difference in the workplace and in society. Read

New research program to create more reliable vehicles
The U.S. Army Tank and Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) is funding research using UDM's engineering expertise to help develop the next generation of military vehicles. Read
