Scholarships remain a vital source of support for CBA students

Nearly 90 percent of all students who attend UDM receive some type of financial aid. The majority of this aid is in the form of student loans. So, when a student receives a scholarship, it is a significant event for that student.

"I wouldn't be what I am without the support I received. I would probably have gone to community college and saved as much as possible. I would have gone to a university at some point but this allowed me the full benefit of a University experience" says senior Matthew Parker. "Now I have options I wouldn't have otherwise. I don't have to take any job just to pay off my debt. I have the freedom to choose how to best use my degree."

The College of Business Administration is fortunate to have a number of named scholarships to award to deserving students. It is always a pleasure, as it was on March 29th, for the College to present these scholarships at the annual Honors Convocation.

But the need is great. Each year, the number of students requiring aid grows. Alumni support with these funds is a great help for these students. Says Parker, "If I had an opportunity to talk to those who helped me and tell them what their support means, I would say 'Thank you for being able to help me'. Some people want to help and don't know how. This is how they can do that."

If you would like to help a student expand his or her opportunities with a contribution to our scholarship funds, or would like more information, please contact Ken Kuna, associate dean, External Relations, at kunakj@udmercy.edu or 313-993-1232.
