CBA Alumni Board Community Service Committee gives back

The College of Business Administration Alumni Board Community Service Committee has quietly taken on several service projects this school year. Their activities have included:

  • participating in the UDM Sandwich Bus,
  • packing and delivering food for Focus: HOPE,
  • collecting funds for the Archdiocese of Detroit's Christmas Adopt-a-Family program, and
  • volunteering at the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.

Kevin White '91, '93, Ann Morgan '99, Michael McBride '99, '03, and Joe Berkowski '73, wrapped gifts for Adopt-a-Family, one of the Community Service Committee's service projects.

According to Committee chair Michael P. McBride '99, '03, the committee selects projects that both allow for many participants at once—typically 5-10 alumni—and for student participation and networking opportunities.

McBride says, "Last year we collected so much money for our Adopt-a-Family campaign, just from the Alumni Board, we were able to adopt two families, each with eight people. Detroit is a city full of service opportunities and to see UDM alumni and students reach out in such an overwhelming manner is very humbling."

Adds McBride, "UDM has a great presence in this community, and we all enjoy continuing that tradition with our projects."

Not all volunteers who participate in the projects are members of the Service Committee. CBA alumni who want to get involved should contact McBride at Michael.p.mcbride@gm.com.
