BTM program continues to thrive
One of the College of Business Administration (CBA) programs helping to drive the University's enrollment expansion is Business Turnaround and Transformation Management (BTM).
CBA began offering a graduate certificate in BTM in the fall 2006 term and this fall added a Master's of Science program. The enrollment outlook for both programs is encouraging. Twelve students are pursuing the master's degree, while 18 students are enrolled for the certificate. Class sizes range from 12 to 20 students.
To expand course offerings and accommodate the requirements of the two programs, two new courses are being taught this fall. Professor of Accounting Jeanne David and President of Corporation Restoration, Inc. Richard Gorges '75, are teaching Crisis Cash Management and Forensic Accounting; a course on Lean Management has also been launched, taught by BTM Steering Committee member Euge Greenstein, CBA Dean Hossein Nivi and Associate Dean Ken Kuna.
The BTM program will further expand in Winter 2008. Charles H. Kellstadt Professor of Marketing Oswald Mascarenhas, S.J., will teach Ethics and Critical Thinking, and Professor of Business Administration Mary Ann Hazen will teach Change Management. Other returning courses include Fraud Detection and Prevention, taught by Cendrowski Corporate Advisors, a firm led by alumnus Harry Cendrowski '77; and Mergers and Acquisitions, taught by Greenstein and Kuna.
In addition, a number of the BTM Steering Committee and faculty will cooperate to supervise an innovative practicum, giving BTM master's students first-hand experience in a turnaround engagement.
