Robbery Not Armed

Date: September 27, 2012

Location: On Campus / St. Antoine, North of E. Canfield ( On sidewalk)

University Health Center Campus– The University of Detroit Mercy Public Safety Department has been notified of a RNA (Robbery Not Armed) that occurred on St. Antoine between Kresge Eye Center and E. Canfield on September 27, 2012 at 1:30PM.

The Victim, a University of Detroit Mercy Dental Student, was walking on the sidewalk talking on her cell phone when the suspect approached her from behind, forcefully taking her cell phone. The suspect ran eastbound across St. Antoine into the Medical Court Apartments Courtyard.

The suspect is described as a B/M, 20’s, 6 feet tall, Slim Build, Dark Complexion last seen wearing a Navy and teal blue baggy sweat shirt with a hood and baggy blue jeans.

Witnesses are asked to contact Sergeant Soviak of the UDM Public Safety Department at (313) 993-1234. 

How you can help

Report all suspicious activity to Public Safety at (313) 993-1123 that is observed from your office or dorm window.

Be mindful of persons who appear to be loitering.

Take notice of the clothing, gender and race to help officers locate the person of concern.

Take notice of the vehicles nearby the suspicious person.

Follow DPS safety tips and when in doubt call us out to investigate further.

 

Safety Tips

If you see a suspect, do not approach--call Public Safety.

Always lock your vehicle doors, roll up windows and close your sun roof when leaving your car.

Place valuables in the trunk or take them with you.

Utilize the campus escort policy or walk with others if you feel uncomfortable.

Limit the use of devices that distract you while you are walking to and from your car (Ex. Text messaging, iPods).

Have your keys in hand so you are ready to open the car door immediately.

Do not prop open doors.
