Safety Notice
Armed Robbery
Date: August 23, 2009
Location: Off Campus / Public sidewalk on Livernois near Florence Street
McNichols Campus– The University of Detroit Mercy Public Safety Department is working with the Detroit Police Department in connection with an armed robbery that occurred off campus at 4:00 p.m. on August 23rd.
The victims, 19 and 20 year old male students walking northbound on the east side of Livernois. The students observed the two suspects stop under a nearby tree. As the students approached them one of suspects showed a handgun to the victims demanding money. The students refused and ran back onto campus. The suspects fled on foot behind the Dixon Medical Center and from there unknown. The victims were not injured.
SUSPECT DESCRIPTIONS:
- Male, black, brown complexion, 5’11” height, 140 lbs. believed to be in his late teens. He was last seen wearing a dark T-shirt and dark jeans.
- Male, black, dark brown complexion, 5’8” height, 140 lbs. believed to be in his late teens. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, dark jeans, and dark baseball cap worn sideways.

- Use the campus ATM.
- Do not carry large amounts of cash,
- Do not count your cash in view of others
- Be aware of your surroundings and others around you at all times.
- Limit the use of devices that distract you while you are walking (Ex. Text messaging, iPods).
- Utilize the campus escort policy or walk with others when possible.
