Safety Notice Update

Strong Arm (Unarmed) Robbery

Date: August 15, 2009

Location: Off Campus / BP Gas Station – Livernois south of Puritan

McNichols Campus– The University of Detroit Mercy Public Safety Department is working with the Detroit Police Department in connection with a strong arm robbery that occurred off campus at 3:00 p.m. on August 15th.

The victim, a 23-year-old student said on the above date he visited the BP Gas Station on Livernois near Puritan. Upon leaving the store four strangers approached him and began to hit him. One of the suspects grabbed the victim’s shoulder bag containing a large amount of cash. The suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The student stated three of the suspects were black males 18 - 20 years old, thin build wearing black T-shirts. The fourth suspect was a black male 18-20 years old, heavy build.
