Safety Notice

Armed Robbery

Date: March 30, 2009

Location: On Campus / Public sidewalk in front of Lansing Reilly

    On the above date a 19-year-old student got off of the bus at McNichols and Livernois.  While walking eastbound toward the McNichols entrance an unknown male called him from behind. When the student turned around the suspect showed a handgun to the victim demanding his money. The victim handed the suspect his wallet containing $30.00. The victim was not injured.

    The suspect fled on foot northbound toward the Oil Lube Express Auto Shop and from there unknown.

    The student stated the suspect was black, of medium build, about 6 feet tall and in his 20’s. He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat and a black jacket.

    Any witnesses are asked to contact Sergeant Soviak of the UDM Public Safety Department at (313) 993-1252. 

    • Limit the use of devices that distract you while you are walking (Ex. Text messaging, iPods).
    • Utilize the campus escort policy or walk with others when possible.
