Malicious Destruction of Property (MDP) – Automobile

Location: On Campus / Dormitory Parking, Parking Lot D.

The University of Detroit Mercy McNichols campus has experienced a rash of MDP Automobiles. The perpetrator/s are breaking out vehicle windows and smashing windshields. Upon gaining entry to the vehicle the interior is ransacked for valuables. You are asked to call the Department of Public Safety if you observe anyone suspicious or suspicious activity in the campus Parking lots. You are encouraged to take additional precautions:

Park in a well lighted area. Avoid desolate areas.
Lock your vehicle.
Keep valuables out of sight. Keep vehicle free of boxes and bags-Thieves will break into vehicles to see if they contain anything of value.
On campus report suspicious persons or activities to Public Safety (313) 993-1123
Off campus report incidents by dialing 9-1-1
