University of Detroit Mercy School of Law’s Mortgage Foreclosure Defense Clinic successfully argued a motion recently in Wayne County Circuit Court to prevent 70 Wayne County individuals and their families from foreclosure and wrongful eviction.
UDM Launches New Dental Training Initiative to Recruit and Retain Underserved Students, Address Oral Health Crisis

University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) partnering with MI-AHEC has been selected to successfully implement a yearlong recruitment and retention campaign through the Dental Pipeline National Learning Institute (NLI). Introduced by the American Dental Education Association (ADEA), the premier association serving the dental education community, in partnership with the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, the NLI is a new training program dedicated to increasing recruitment and retention among underserved student communities at dental schools.
WCCCD & UDM Partner to Provide New Pathways to Higher Education

Advanced Courses in Finance, Education, Health Care and Math to be Provided at Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) University Center -- A memorandum of understanding signed last week by University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) and WCCCD creates new pathways for students to earn advanced degrees close to home. The new agreement allows students to take advanced courses from UDM in a variety of subjects either at WCCCD’s University Center (Harper Woods) or online. This convenient eastside location provides students in the St. Clair Shores, Eastpointe and Grosse Pointe communities an easier way to complete their degrees.

Students at UDM Provide Food to Low-Income Neighbors

Start with a national food-harvesting organization. Mix together University of Detroit Mercy students eager to volunteer. Round up fresh extra food from area partners. Cook as needed and combine with other prepared food to make nutritious meals in the UDM Campus kitchen after hours. Then, deliver the fresh meals to a local shelter, homebound seniors and families in need. Repeat on a weekly basis. This is the recipe for the successful “Campus Kitchen at UDM” (CKUDM), which was launched last Jan., the first such program in the state.
