Detroit Finance Director to Teach New Course at UDM

This fall, University of Detroit Mercy’s College of Business Administration will offer a new course from John Naglick, Jr., finance director & interim treasurer for the City of Detroit, on a subject with which Naglick has significant experience: “Accounting During a Cash Crisis.”

UDM Law School Receives $15,000 Project Grant

University of Detroit Mercy School of Law is one of seven law establishments around the country to receive a $15,000 project grant from The American Bar Association. Grants are given through the Legal Access Job Corps initiative established by ABA President James R. Silkenat and are available to bar associations, courts, law schools or other groups that propose to employ new lawyers in innovative ways to address the legal needs of poor or moderate-income individuals.

UDM Welcomes Detroit Future City’s Chris Dorle

University of Detroit Mercy will welcome Chris Dorle, of the City Systems Working Group for Detroit Future City, on July 22 at 6 p.m. in the Engineering Building, room E-212. Dorle will be discussing “Transit and Community Development” for the city of Detroit.

UDM Receives $2 Million in Gifts and Grants to Help Students through Scholarships, Co-ops and Fellowship Positions

The School of Architecture and the College of Engineering & Science at University of Detroit Mercy received grants totaling $2 million to support students through scholarships, paid internships (co-op) and fellowship positions. The gifts are from UDM alumnus Warren Loranger '51, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the Mary G. Stange Charitable Trust.

MI-AHEC’s Southeast Regional Center and UDM School of Dentistry Offer Free Program to Address Shortage of Dentists in Michigan

Summer Initiative Gives Aspiring Dentists Chance to Brush Up on Academic and Job Skills - The Michigan Area Health Education Center’s (AHEC) Southeast Regional Center and the University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) School of Dentistry have teamed up to offer aspiring dental students the chance to brush up on their academic, job readiness, and networking skills this summer. The Summer Enrichment Program at the University of Detroit Mercy is a free, six-week initiative that will run from Monday, May 19 through Friday, June 27, 2014. Its purpose is to expose students to careers in dentistry, increase the number of disadvantaged students pursuing dental careers, and help students become successful dental school applicants.

Shhh! Neil LaBute's Comedy-drama "This is How it Goes" Wrestles Racism, Bigotry and Even Love Itself

Neil LaBute's sophisticatedly structured drama This Is How It Goes continues the UDM Theatre Company's season. Directed by Greg Grobis, This Is How It Goes runs November 15, 16, 22, 23 at 8 p.m. and November 17 and 24 at 2 p.m. at the Marygrove Theatre (8425 W McNichols Rd., Detroit). LaBute unblinkingly challenges the notions of gender, ethnicity and even love itself in this fast paced 90-minute play which is unpredictable at every turn.
