College of Business Administration and Beta Alpha Psi host free income tax assistance clinic
The University of Detroit Mercy College of Business Administration and Alpha Xi chapter of Beta Alpha Psi in conjunction with the Accounting Aid Society are providing free income tax assistance for Detroit area residents and Detroit Mercy students. Trained student volunteers will be assisting individuals on Feb. 4, 18, 25, March 18, 25 and April 1. The clinic will open each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., located in Room 10 of the Commerce & Finance Building the McNichols Campus.
Students and neighborhood residents who have an annual household income of $54,000 or less may qualify for this free face-to-face confidential income tax preparation and E-filing.
All accounting student and faculty volunteers have completed rigorous IRS training to prepare tax returns under the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Detroit Mercy College of Business Administration Professors Jeanne David and Rose Yang lead the honor society for accounting students: Beta Alpha Psi.
“We are very proud to once again offer our services to those that need the assistance,” said David. “Services will include filing individuals city, state, federal as well as heat and property tax credit forms.”
