UDM Dental Introduces Summer Enrichment Program
University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry is now offering a Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) for 10 college students from Michigan interested in the dental profession. Scheduled June 4 –15 at UDM’s dental campus near Corktown, the program will provide the students with exposure to the dental field while strengthening academic skills and preparing them for the Dental Admission Test (DAT). The goal of SEP is to provide educational experiences to assist individuals toward matriculation and graduation from dental school.
During the program, students will rotate through the dental clinic and pre-clinic areas. Program content includes oral health research workshops, gross anatomy observations, DAT preparation workshops, interviewing/application workshops, social and cultural competence workshops and multicultural and student/alumni forums. Financial aid and admission counseling will also be available to assist students in applying to dental school.
The free program is funded by a Michigan Area Health Education Center (AHEC) grant. SEP is targeted towards educationally and/or economically disadvantaged applicants.
