Pamela Zarkowski Receives ADEA Distinguished Service Award

Vice President for Academic Affairs Pamela Zarkowski, M.P.H., J.D., received the American Dental Education Association’s (ADEA) Distinguished Service Award during the 2011 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition in San Diego, Calif. The award recognizes significant contributions to education, research, and ADEA.

Currently she serves on the Committee to Develop Guidelines on Ethical Behavior for Dental Professionals for the American Association of Dental Boards. She has been a mentor to many, especially through the ADEA Leadership Institute (ADEA LI), and she continues to develop leaders through programs with ADEA and the Society for Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (SELAM), which she served as President in 2007-08.

“Prof. Pamela Zarkowski has been a pillar for our community, an example of professional responsibility who models respect for self and others, and a tireless proponent of education,” said ADEA President Sandra C. Andrieu, M.Ed., Ph.D.

She served the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry as Executive Associate Dean, Associate Dean for Academic Administration, Associate Dean for Admissions and Community Relations, Chair of the Department of Professional Community and Behavioral Sciences, and Chair of the Department of Dental Hygiene.
