Auschwitz Survivor Speaks at University of Detroit Mercy
Holocaust survivor Irving Roth will visit University of Detroit Mercy on Wednesday, January 26 at 7 p.m. in the Student Center Fountain Lounge, located on the McNichols Campus. Roth will speak about his life during the Holocaust, detailing his struggle for survival when he was taken from Czechoslovakia. He will discuss the emotional conflict he had to endure from being taunted as a Jewish child to the horrors of concentration camp. Roth was one of the only members of his family to survive.

Roth has traveled to many different schools around the country to share his story in hopes of preventing a repeat of tragic history, and will also share the lessons he learned from his experiences. He is currently the Director of the Holocaust Resource Center at the Temple Judea of Manhasset, New York. He has devoted his life to being a writer and internationally known educator regarding his time spent in Auschwitz. His book called Bondi's Brother describes his experience with the Holocaust. Roth is now a loving husband, father and grandfather.
This event is free and open to the public and is sponsored by UDM's chapter of Christians United for Israel, the Student Programming Board and the Student Life Office. For more information, contact the Student Life Office at 313-993-1150 or studentlifeoffice@udmercy.edu.
