Garibaldi elected ACE board officer
Antoine M. Garibaldi, Ph.D., incoming president of University of Detroit Mercy, was elected to a one-year term as secretary of the American Council on Education Board of Directors at its 93rd Annual Meeting in March.
The American Council on Education (ACE) is the major coordinating body for the nation’s higher education institutions. It provides leadership on key higher education issues and influences public policy through advocacy.
Garibaldi has been a member of ACE’s board since 2009. As a national leader in higher education, he also serves as a board member on a number of scholarly and professional organizations, such as the Association of Governing Board’s Council of Presidents and the National Association of College and University Business Officers. Garibaldi is also a past chair of the Board of Directors of both the Council of Independent Colleges and the American Association for Higher Education. He is also a member of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ National Review Board, as well as the boards of trustees of Seton Hall University (NJ) and University of St. Thomas (MN).
Garibaldi will begin his position as UDM’s president on July 1, 2011.
