“Race, Culture, Power in the Age of Obama” Discussed

A lecture entitled “Race, Culture, Power in the Age of Obama” will be held tonight, January 19, 2010 in the Commerce and Finance Building, Room 209 on University of Detroit Mercy’s McNichols Campus from 7:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

Speaking on the subject is Sara Martin, Associate Dean for Technical Services and Library Systems at UDM. She will be discussing the current history of prejudice, geography, social status, religion, color and ethnicity.

Martin has worked with the Federation of American Scientists to create an immersive 3D computer environment that gives teachers and students access to explore racial and prejudice history. Martin earned her BA in Psychology and Sociology at Hastings College, course work, MPA from the University of Nebraska, Omaha and her M.L.S. from Emporia State University, Emporia Kansas.

Her responsibilities include Planning, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the activities, services, and personnel of Cataloging, Acquisition and Archive Collection Management, Collection Maintenance and Preservation Departments.
