Honors Symposium Discusses Health Care Reform

Is the health care system in America broken as portrayed in the media and how would the President Obama’s proposed plan affect the general health of our nation? Advocates of health care reform have been discussing a plan that is meant to lower costs and address the problem of so many of America’s uninsured citizens.

A panel of UDM faculty will address these questions and many more at the third semi-annual Honors Symposium on Wednesday, October 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the Ford Life Science Building, Room 113 on the McNichols campus.

A moderated discussion will take place where both sides of the health care debate will be represented. The symposium debaters will be R. Michael Canjar, professor, math and computer science; Lori Glenn, nursing clinical track instructor; Martin Leever, associate professor – chair, philosophy,: Molly McClelland, Todd Ray, assistant professor, Health Services/Health Services Administration; and Dr. Prasad Venugopal, associate professor, physics. Audience members are strongly encouraged to take an active participatory role in the debate.
