UDM School of Law and School of Dentistry Hold Annual Commencements
Both UDM professional schools will be holding their annual commencements in Calihan Hall on the McNichols Campus.
Morris received her Jurist Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 1982 and remains on the school’s advisory board. She has extensive trial experience, including civil and criminal, State and Federal as a private practitioner; assistant Oakland County prosecutor and an assistant United States attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Morris was appointed to the Oakland County Circuit Court in August of 1992, elected in 1994, and re-elected in 2000 and 2006. As Oakland County’s first African American Circuit Court judge, she has spent several years working for the State’s Department of Social Services as a protective services worker, first for disabled adults and senior citizens – then for abused and/or neglected children.
On Sunday, May 10, 2009 at 10:30 a.m., the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry will commence at Calihan Hall. The keynote address will be delivered by Paula Tutman,WDIV-TV 4 reporter, author and founder of the Children's Tooth Fairy Foundation. A reception for graduates and families will also take place at the Fisher Fountain after the ceremony.
Donations to Tutman’s charity have helped support dental work for children who may not be able to afford it and dental education to parents to guide their children to take care of their teeth properly. Tutman has also won an Emmy, three Emmy nominations, six Associated Press awards and an Alpha Chi award for news reporting and writing. She has worked greatly with the UDM Dental School the past year.
