College of Engineering & Science Hosts 77th Annual Slide Rule Dinner Dance
The University of Detroit Mercy’s College of Engineering & Science will be hosting their 77th Annual Slide Rule Dinner Dance on March 28, 2009 from 6 p.m. until midnight at the Detroit Cobo Conference Center, Riverview Room. Alumnae Derrick Kuzak and Michael J. Rokosz will be honored on this evening.
Dr. Derrick Kuzak graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor’s of Science and Electrical Engineering degree and received his Masters in the same area one year later, along with his Doctoral degree in Systems Engineering in 1976. He began his career in 1978 at Ford Motor Company, and has worked his way up to his current position as Group Vice President, Global Product Development. Kuzak has also given back to UDM in numerous ways. He spoke at the 2008 Ford Innovation Symposium held at the university, is a member of the Ford/UDM Steering Committee, and advises the faculty in the College of Engineering and Science Master’s in Product Development Program.
Michael J. Rokosz received his Bachelor’s of Science in Physics and Mathematics from the University in 1970. He founded MJR Labs, a Technical Consulting firm, and currently holds the position as president of the company. He also worked as a research scientist and manager for the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Facility at Ford Motor Company. Along with receiving many awards himself, Rokosz created an award titled “da Vinci Award”. This award pays tribute to individuals who have helped to make the world more handicapped accessible.
