UDM Dental School hosts Endodontic event

The University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry will offering pre-screenings for root canals to Medicaid patients who have lost their dental coverage on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Covenant Community Care, 559 W. Grand Boulevard in Detroit. The University is hosting the Endo Event that will grant 50 adults root canals at no charge.Approximately 200-300 adults will be screened and interviewed on this date. The criteria for the chosen include need for a root canal, good oral health and eligibility for Medicaid. The 50 people who fit best with these standards will be given the treatment on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009 and Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the UDM Dental School and Clinic, 2700 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Detroit. The cost for the crown will be covered by Covenant Community Care and by donations from the Michigan Association of Endodontists.

The treatment will be performed by volunteer endodontist professionals in the community and dental faculty from the UDM Dental School. The endo residents and staff will be available to help in the clinic. The school will also be the donate disposable clinic supplies and endo supplies.
