Free Braces Screening Exam Day, June 19
The Orthodontic Department at University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, in conjunction with Covenant Community Care Dental Center and Henry Ford School Based & Community Programs, will host a free Braces Screening Exam Day on Friday, June 19, 8:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. at the UDM School of Dentistry, 2700 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd., Detroit. The Orthodontic Department will provide free braces for 60 children, ages 9-16, who meet the following criteria:
- Patient must be ages 9-16
- Patient must be Medicaid eligible (bring Medicaid card or child's Social Security number)
- Severity of dental and jaw problem
- One parent or guardian only must accompany child
- Must return for June 26 cleaning appointment
- Must be able to keep every monthly appointment
The 60 patients will be selected based upon educational and severity need. Screening does not guarantee acceptance for the free braces program. All children screened will be added to a database to provide follow up for general dental care.
