Patricia Isasa Discusses Her Fight for Justice

In July of 1976, Architect Patricia Isasa was 16-years-old and was targeted for her part in organizing a high school student union in Argentina. She was kidnapped by Argentine police and soldiers, tortured and held prisoner without a trial for two and a half years. Once released, she took action and investigated her kidnappers. Thanks to her strong will, eight prisoners were jailed for the crimes they committed.

Isasa will speak on her experiences on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 7 p.m, in the Ford Life Sciences Building, Room 113 on the McNichols Campus about her hardships.  In her talk, “Bringing Torturers to Justice in Argentina”, she speaks about the connections between her tortures and the training of the School of the Americas (SOA). Her story speaks of a brave young woman who spoke up to make a difference in seeking justice for innocent victims.

The Carney Latin American Solidarity Archives (CLASA), at the University of Detroit Mercy, is co-sponsoring a presentation with Michigan Coalition for Human Rights and the Jesuit Province of Detroit.
