Dozens of college engineering students gathered at Lawrence Technological University Friday for two competitions sponored by the American Society of Civil Engineers. In the Steel Bridge competition, students built a 20-foot-long bridge under controlled conditions that had to meet certain size specifcations and carry a 2,500-pound load. Besides host Lawrence Tech the event featured teams from Case Western Reserve University, Michigan State University, Michigan Technological University, the University of Michigan, the University of Toledo and Western Michigan University.
