Mission Leadership Award Criteria
University Mission:
The University of Detroit Mercy, a Catholic university in the Jesuit and Mercy traditions, exists to provide excellent student-centered undergraduate and graduate education in an urban context. A UDM education seeks to integrate the intellectual, spiritual, ethical and social development of students.
Award:
The Mission Leadership Award recognizes a faculty and an administrator/staff member who exemplifies the above Mission characteristics. This award is sponsored by the Mission and Vision Team. The award is presented at the annual Fall Convocation. [ View past winners.]
Criteria:
The nominee should manifest at an exceptional level at least three of the following attributes and be an active member of the UDM family with at least (1) year of exemplary serve at the school.
- Recipient integrates the intellectual, spiritual, ethical and social development of students;
- Recipient provides excellent student-centered undergraduate and graduate education and/or service;
- Recipient is actively involved in school activities outside of the classroom and office and
- Recipient is a person who leads and serves in his/her community.
Please describe with specifics what the nominee has done "outside of the norm" to advance the mission within the college, school or department and beyond, to inform and attract colleagues to the Mission and to positively affect the teaching/working environment at UDM.
Eligibility
All UDM employees except those from University Ministry, the Office of Mission and Identity and the Leadership Development Institute (for these three units Mission related activities are considered part of the job description) are eligible.Letter of Recommendation
Yearly, you will be asked to submit a letter of recommendation (no longer than two pages) explaining your selection using the information above. NO SELF NOMINATIONS PLEASE.
