The UDM Jesuit Associates

Serving the Jesuit Mission at the University of Detroit Mercy

The UDM Jesuit Associates invites nominations for this year's MAGIS AWARDS.

The Jesuit community at the University of Detroit Mercy needs considerably more lay involvement and support to better meet its mission at the University. This need is driven by the current and anticipated size of the UDM Jesuit community and our competition for broadly-experienced and very talented new Jesuits. Basic too, is the importance of further strengthening the Catholic identity of the University of Detroit Mercy.

In 1994, a small group of friends of the community met with the UDM Jesuits and formed an association of strong Catholic lay people to serve and assist in filling this compelling need. The Association works to meet four important needs:

  • An ongoing dialog to strengthen the Catholic identity, spiritual values, and ethical foundation of all that is offered and taught at the University
  • A support system for the recently expanded University Ministry efforts
  • A support system to extend the Catholic and spiritual identity in all academic efforts in all of the colleges
  • Ongoing financial support for the UDM Jesuit community in their mission and efforts at the University

Our aim is to grow to 100 members over the next ten years. A plaque with the names of all Members and Benefactors will be placed in the Jesuit residence as a perpetual memorial to their generosity, commitment, and support.

You are invited to be a UDM Jesuit Associates Member. We need you for the important work in the years ahead at UDM, and we hope you will join us! Current Members can tell you of the privileges and joys of active Membership.
