Mary-Catherine Harrison moved to Michigan in 2000 from New Jersey, where she grew up and went to college at Rutgers University. After completing her Ph.D. in English Literature at University of Michigan, she joined the faculty at University of Detroit Mercy in 2008. Her scholarship focuses on nineteenth-century British literature and narrative empathy, and she is particularly interested in how literary texts shape readers’ ethical beliefs and behaviors. In addition to spending time with her husband and daughters, she directs Rx for Reading Detroit, a non-profit children’s literacy initiative at University of Detroit Mercy.

Todd Hibbard is a native Detroiter with a passion for his city. He has lived and taught in many other places in the United States, but was proud to join the University of Detroit Mercy faculty in 2011 and return "home." After graduating with a degree in religion from Lee University, he pursued master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Notre Dame (Go Irish!). His scholarly work focuses on Judaism and Christianity in the ancient world, primarily through study of the Hebrew Bible and New Testament. Beyond his work and family life, he is passionate about three things: good coffee, excellent jazz and the Detroit Tigers.
