Alternative Spring Break
In March students again participated in the University’s Alternative Spring Break program. In the 24 years dozens of students have used their spring vacation to serve others in projects across 25 different states and 3 international locations.
This year’s projects were in Tuscaloosa AL., Nogales AZ, Chicago IL, Salem WV, Sacramento CA and Detroit and dealt with issues such as hunger and homelessness, interreligious dialogue, immigration, environmental sustainability, urban poverty and disaster relief.
One thing that makes a UDM education unique is the wide variety of service-learning programs available to our students. Students participating in ASB are truly committed. Each student is required to pay to participate in the program. Many donors have generously given to help ensure that students can have these wonderful opportunities. Read some quotes from participants about how much this trip, and the gifts from our alumni and friends, meant to them.
