This year the University of Detroit Mercy celebrates the spirit of its founders: the Jesuit Jubilee, marking the 500th anniversary of the births of Jesuits Francis Xavier and Peter Faber and the 450th anniversary of the death of Saint Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus; the 175th anniversary of the founding of the Religious Sisters of Mercy; and a special Detroit visit by the Superior General of the Society of Jesus, Father General Peter-Hans Kolvenbach, S.J. on October 6 and 7.
