Mercy in South Sudan: Sr. Angela Limiyo
September 20, 2013
Time: 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Location: Commerce & Finance Building, room 138
South Sudan is the world's newest country, having become an independent state in 2011. Years of civil war, fraught with atrocities against citizens, caused many to flee to surrounding countries where they lived in refugee camps. Mercy Beyond Borders (MBB) was founded in South Sudan in 2008 to bring women in this country out of extreme poverty through education.
Sr. Angela Limiyo, RSM, is head of the MBB Pre-Nursing Internship Program. As a nurse and midwife, Sr. Limiyo has lived through the challenges of ministering in South Sudan. She will share her wisdom and stories of providing health care to the critically poor of South Sudan.
This event is co-sponsored by UDM's Carney Latin American Solidarity Archive (CLASA) and the Sigma Theta Tau Lambda Zeta chapter.
