Facilities and Technology Requirements

Students in Digital Media Studies have access to a variety of computer labs. Still, it is strongly recommended that have access to a laptop (preferably) or a desktop computer. Generous discounts are offered to registered students who purchase computer equipment and software online. Software is also available though the Campus Bookstore. DMS courses make use of both Mac and PC hardware and software. The following setup is recommended for a DMS major:

Hardware

  • 512MB (minimum)
  • 14 inch Display (minimum)
  • 60GB Ultra ATA hard drive (minimum)
  • DVD/CD Writer
  • Built-in Ethernet and wireless
  • firewire (IEEE 1394) input for video editing

Software

  • Microsoft Office
  • Macromedia Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks
  • Anti-Virus Software
  • Macromedia Director (recommended)
  • Adobe Photoshop (recommended)
  • FinalCut Pro or Adobe Premiere (recommended)
