Join the Career Education Center for a series of workshops designed to assist UDM student and alumni in career development and management.  Career Development is a lifelong process that involves more than just finding a 'job.'

Stop by our department to learn about the various career resources available to UDM students. A brief overview presentation of the Career Education Center will be given followed by a Q & A session regarding CEC services with a career advisor.

Tuesday, November 17, 2009 - Conducting an Effective job Search in Today's Economy

Time: 12:30pm to 1:30pm - Location: Commerce and Finance Building - Room 228

Did you know that your TitanCareerLink account provides you with access to a variety of online job search systems?

Employers hiring needs may change on a daily basis.  Knowing how to find employment related on your experience and skills is 'key' in this current economy.

Participants of this workshop will learn methods of identifying employment opportunities based on their skills, knowledge and experience. Representatives from the Career Education Center will explain techniques on how to conduct a successful job search in today's changing economy and how to research potential employers using the TitanCareerLink system.

Tuesday, November 17, 2009 - Researching Potential Employers

Time: 2:00pm to 3:00pm - Location: McNichols Library - Reference Section

The Researching Potential Employers workshop will introduce UDM students to databases and online resources available through the University's library. A Reference Librarian will assist students with finding information on potential employers; this information is helpful in preparing for upcoming interviews or making career planning decisions

Wednesday, November 18, 2009 - Successful Interviewing Techniques

Time: 12:30pm to 1:30pm - Location: Commerce & Finance - Room 228

Are you familiar with a case study interview?  What is a phone interview and how important is it in making an impression on a potential employer?

Employers use a variety of interviewing techniques to assure that they hire candidates who are a good fit for their company and the position that they are recruiting for.  Knowing tips on a variety of interview styles can give you the edge over the competition.

This workshop will provide techniques for conducting a successful interview. The presenter will cover topics on:

Wednesday, November 18, 2009 - Using Networking as an Advantage in your Job Search

Time: 3:30pm to 4:30pm - Location: Commerce & Finance - Room 228

Do you have what it takes to successfully network with recruiters?

Networking is more than meeting recruiters and asking for a job.  Recruiters look for candidates who are have the soft skills to complement their academic learning.  Join the Career Education Center in a presentation designed to sharpen UDM students' communication skills for mingling and social gatherings. What to say, when to say it, how to say it; all in the context of how these skills can give students an advantage in interview settings, corporate social functions and everyday conversation.

Thursday, November 19, 2009 - Call to Serve - Learn about Federal Career Options

Friday, November 20, 2009 - Career Exploration Sessions

Time: 2:30pm to 3:15pm or Time: 3:30pm to 4:15pm Location: Reno Hall Theatre Conference Room 162

Join the Career Education Center as we conclude National Career Development Week by viewing several 10-15 minute videos on full-time/internship opportunities with various organizations. Presentations will include the Disney internship program, Sherwin Williams Company management trainee program and others.
