UDM to collaborate on $2.4 million project
UDM and three collaborating universities have received a $2.4 million grant from the Kern Family Foundation to develop new ways to graduate entrepreneurial engineers. Along with UDM, Baylor University, University of Dayton and Villanova University will develop programming and intercollegiate resources on "intrapreneurship," to teach students how to apply an entrepreneurial spirit within existing companies. The principal investigators at UDM are Leo Hanifin, dean of the College of Engineering & Science, and Nassif Rayess, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering.
Auto industry leader Robert Lutz at UDM, Jan. 25
Robert Lutz, former vice chairman of General Motors in North America, will visit UDM to discuss his latest book, Car Guys vs. Bean Counters, on Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the newly-renovated Chemistry Building. The lecture is free and open to the public, sponsored by UDM's Colleges of Business Administration, Engineering & Science and Liberal Arts & Education. Michigan Governor Rick Snyder appointed Associate Professor of Education Isaiah McKinnon to the Detroit Financial Review Team. The appointment was made Dec. 27, under the Local Government and School Districts Financial Accountability Act of 2011.
