Commencement photo gallery online

A selection of images from the 2011 UDM Commencement ceremonies are now online in the UDM gallery.  Congratulations to Commencement organizers and volunteers for a job well done, as well as to all our new UDM alumni!

Among the degrees conferred and the honors bestowed, the 2011 Vivere ex Missione Award was presented to Chemistry & Biochemistry graduate Patricia Walworth, for exemplifying the UDM Mission by leading and serving both on campus and in her community, reflecting a commitment to compassion and justice in the Jesuit and Mercy traditions.

Chemistry Building renovation begins

Renovation to the Chemistry Building is now under way as interior demolition begins.  The building is now closed to the general public, with the Chemistry Main Office relocated to Engineering Room 270 during the renovation period. The upgraded Chemistry Building will open in mid-December.


Will Wittig becomes new Architecture dean

Associate Professor of Architecture Will Wittig has been named dean of the School of Architecture. Wittig has been a full-time faculty member since 2001 where he has served as co-director of the Master's of Community Development and director of the Master's of Architecture Program. Wittig has been director of the Architecture program since 2009.  For more, see the news release.

"May I Be Frank" movie event, May 28

Talk with the filmmakers and the man at the center of the documentary film, May I Be Frank," Saturday, May 28 at 7 p.m. in the Ford Life Sciences Building Room 113.  The evening will include a screening of the film, which chronicles the transformation of Frank Ferrante's life, from that of a 54-year-old obese, depressed addict to a much healthier person, with the help of three young men who believe in the power of raw foods and holistic practices.  Representatives from relevant local businesses will also be on hand.  Admission is $10, and the event is expected to sell out.  You can purchase tickets through the movie website.  The event is sponsored at UDM by the Performing Arts Department.
