UDM lends a helping hand to 'adopted' families this Christmas

Engineering alumni group with presents
A group including members of the Engineering & Science Alumni Board and the E&S Student Council wraps gifts for their adopted families.

Members of the University Advancement Department joined with the alumni boards of the Colleges of Engineering & Science and Liberal Arts & Education to put smiles on the faces of 32 people this Christmas by participating in the Mercy Education Project (MEP) "Adopt-a-Family" effort. On Dec. 10, Two Men & A Truck, owned by alumnus Rene Saenz '75, delivered the groups' donated gifts to MEP for distribution to families in need. The College of Business Administration also adopted families this Christmas season, working with the Detroit Childrens Center.

UDM partners with Ford to raise awareness for cyber security

During the past semester, UDM Computer & Information Systems (CIS) and Intelligence Analysis graduate students worked with Ford Motor Company to raise awareness about cyber security issues. CIS Assistant Professor Jeffrey Ingalsbe and Assistant Professor of Communication Studies Jason Roche helped students develop security awareness presentations, coinciding with Cyber Security Awareness Month, which was established by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Students went to Ford facilities in Dearborn to record presentations on secure mobile computing, secure family computing and free security tools.

Thumbs Up!

Assistant Professor of Education Lorri MacDonald was recently invited to
join The Network of Michigan Educators. The network is open to Michigan educators who have received state and/or national recognition as an educator, in order to provide connections that can benefit professionals in the field of education.
