Celebrate Spirit! in Gesu Church, Sept. 24
UDM faculty, staff and students will gather for the annual "Celebrate Spirit!" event, Thursday, Sept. 24 at 11:30 a.m. in NEW LOCATION Gesu Church, one block north of McNichols Campus on Oak Drive (see church info). (Class schedules will change on McNichols Campus for the day of the event.) After an all-faiths service in Gesu, everyone is invited to a picnic lunch and a student organization fair around Fisher Fountain on McNichols Campus.
Part of a tradition that goes back to the Middle Ages, Celebrate Spirit! is a symbol of the beginning of a new academic year. The occasion gathers the entire University community together to rededicate us all to UDM's mission, to renew friendships and to welcome new people to UDM. Find out more on the Celebrate Spirit! page.

Parking ticket amnesty
The UDM Public Safety Department is offering a parking ticket amnesty period, Tuesday, Oct. 6 through Thursday, Oct. 8 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. During this time, if you bring either your driver's license, state ID card or UDM ID card to the Public Safety office on McNichols Campus, you may pay off your UDM-issued parking tickets at a 50% discount with no questions asked.
Payment must be made either in cash or by personal check (no credit cards). Your balance will be cleared as paid in full, and any active Public Safety holds will be removed from your account. For more information, contact Shirley Smith in the Public Safety Office at 313-993-1252.
UDM/Ford Innovation Contest
UDM students from all majors are invited to enter the UDM/Ford Innovation Contest, a chance to invent a new application for the wirless SYNC system developed by Ford Motor Company and Microsoft.
Teams of full-time UDM undergraduate students are to identify an unmet customer need and to propose a creative solution. The challenge is not about working out the technical details, but rather about conceiving and presenting an innovative idea!
Teams must sign up for the challenge by Monday, Sept. 14 and attend a kick-off workshop that night. For more information, see the UDM/Ford Innovation Contest page.
Theatre pass for students
Tell your students that the UDM Theatre Company is offering "Student Flex Passes" that, for only $20, allows them to see all of the five Theatre Company productions this season! See the Theatre Company subscription page for details.
