Child care at UDM? You help decide.
The topic of child care for UDM students and employees has arisen a number of times in recent history. Last fall, a group of University faculty, staff and administrators convened to determine the importance of child care at UDM.
Your input is what this fact-finding committee now needs. The group has developed a quick, online Child Care Interest Survey to gather needed information on the issue.
Even if child care is not a direct concern of yours, all students, faculty, administrators and staff are encouraged to please take a few minutes to fill out the online survey so the Committee can determine the future of this issue. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you! Go to the UDM child care survey.

UDM coordinates "Lifeskills for Latinas"
Beginning this month, UDM's Language & Cultural Training Department is coordinating the program, "Lifeskills for Latinas: ESL," enabling Spanish-speaking women in southwest Detroit to begin their first formal English language course.
Funded by a grant from the Michigan Women's Foundation awarded to Detroit Public Libraries, the program began at the Campbell and Conely library branches, which are in an area where Spanish is often the most commonly spoken language.
UDM's Director of Language and Cultural Training Lara Wasner says, "The 'ESL' stands as much for Esteem, Self-Sufficiency and Literacy as it does for English as a Second Language."
