Forgotten Harvest Mobile Pantry Food Distribution at Project Healthy Community

Description: Project Healthy Community is a non-profit organization working in Northwest Detroit to help create a more healthy and vital community through educational, and food and nutrition programs. PHC is based out of the Northwest Activities Center and many of their programs take place in or nearby the center. Transportation is NOT provided. PHC runs a food distribution in partnership with Forgotten Harvest on the fourth Thursday of every month. Volunteers package and distribute healthy food to over 400 families that attend each month. Distribution typically is outside, therefore volunteers are asked to dress for the weather. The mobile pantry also includes educational sessions on a variety of health topics Volunteers will assist with the set-up and tear-down of this event. They will assist with food distributions and help clients shop and pack-up food.
