CLASA Event: Patrick Brosnan Lecture

Description: Patrick Brosnan, Executive Director of Brighton Park Neighborhood Council, (see www.bpncchicago.org). BPNC is a community-based, grassroots organization on Chicago's Southwest side, and it serves a large immigrant community there. They have many programs including a Deportation Safety Program. His organization has written and published online a report called “Building Sanctuary in Community: How Community Schools Lay the Groundwork for Sanctuary Schools and Protect Immigrant Communities.” They also help undocumented Illinois high school students find college scholarships through the Illinois Dream Act that passed in 2011. His center also helps low income families with their tax returns. He will speak at 11 am and (after a ten minute break) at noon, and he will not repeat himself, as he has much to share about the work of his center (so come for both talks if you can).
