[1:00pm] Forgotten Harvest Mobile Pantry Food Distribution at Lakeridge Village
Description:
*Direct service* In partnership with Forgotten Harvest, Lakeridge Village has a twice-monthly program that feeds food and housing insecure populations in Northwest Detroit through a partnership with Forgotten Harvest. Volunteers assist with set-up and tear-down of the distribution site, handing out food, and interacting with clients. Lakeridge Village is a non-profit organization that provides transitional and permanent housing services to clients referred by the Detroit-Wayne Community Mental Health Authority. The organization also provides additional social services including behavioral health support, opiate dependency counseling, family services, and job training programs. Lakeridge Village holds this event at two different locations. Please take note of the location that you signed up for. Transportation is NOT provided. *Disclaimer* Time is subject to change, as occasionally Forgotten Harvest delivers food earlier or later than expected

Description:
Being with the oppressed can awaken one's quest for justice, part of one's spiritual journey. At 6:45 pm Sr. Mary Ellen will spend an hour telling us about her life’s spiritual journey, and how it is connected to social justice. There will be a brief break, and then at 8 pm (until 9) she will be joined by Dr. Gail Presbey, and the two of them will describe their participation in a recent human rights delegation to Honduras in May of 2018. They went to support Padre Melo (Ismael Moreno, S.J.) & the work of the Sisters of Mercy in Honduras.
