Human trafficking is a contemporary version of slavery, and can be found in many countries. Here in the U.S., estimates say there are about one million people who are victims of trafficking. Michigan has the thirteenth highest rate of trafficked victims in the country.
Cherie Sammis
Cherie Sammis has been speaking about the problems of human trafficking for the last ten years. She first encountered the problems of trafficked people when she worked as a nurse practitioner in Washington, D.C. She is currently Vice President of Mission Integration at St. Mary's of Michigan.
