Join the UDM Green Team for a screening of the 2011 Academy Award nominated short film, Sun Come Up. Sponsored by Catholic Coalition on Climate Change, this national screening of the film coincides with the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi (October 4), patron saint of those who promote ecology. Refreshments will be provided.
The film depicts the struggle of the inhabitants of the Cartaret Islands north of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea, some of the world's first climate refugees, as they try to find a new home for their people. Rising sea levels are forcing them to leave their ancestral island, with limited resources to buy land on the mainland.
