Alumni gather for Godspell and afterglow party
Godspell, which explores Jesus' teachings from the begining of his ministry to his Crucifixion and resurrection, was a joint production between UDM and Marygrove College.
Lisa MacDonell (middle) ’92, ’03, administrative assistant to Dean Charles Marske, was joined by her mother and husband at the afterglow party following the play.
Left to right: Louanne Saenz, John Dunstone ’88, René Saenz ’75 and Liz Foley-Dunstone ’88, ’91.
More than 300 people, including Liberal Arts and Education alumni and family, attended the Theatre Company’s final performance of the popular musical Godspell on April 10. The early 70s rock musical sensation features a whimsical view of Jesus and his followers as they re-enact parables and scenes from Jesus' life, based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew. The production, directed by Theatre Company alumnus Greg Trzaskoma ’94, combined the talents of UDM's Theatre Company with Marygrove College's music and dance departments. The cast included the outstanding young talent of UDM and Marygrove students and featured guest artist and Theatre Company alumnus Matthew Stewart ’84.
Following the performance, the CLAE Alumni Council sponsored a wine and cheese afterglow party for alumni and their family and friends.
