Student Notes
CBA senior Theresa Cowall attended the Beta Gamma Sigma Leadership Forum this past February in Chicago, Illinois. This forum brings together student BGS members from colleges and universities across the country to help the students become the leaders of tomorrow's business world.
The Beta Gamma Sigma scholarship has been awarded to senior Martin Lubinski. Lubinski plans to graduate in December 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
At the Honors Convocation on April 3, the following awards were given:
Accounting Award—Frank J. Antosz III, Angela N. Bell
A certificate presented annually to graduating students in Accounting in recognition
of outstanding academic achievement.
Beta Alpha Psi Certificate— Angela N. Bell, Kelly L. Kowalski,
Donna J. Nolasco
A certificate of merit presented by Beta Alpha Psi Alpha Xi Chapter to a graduating
member demonstrating an optimum record of service to the University and high
scholastic achievement.
Beta Alpha Psi Award—Anton Espat
A plaque and certificate of merit given each year by Beta Alpha Psi Alpha
Xi Chapter to its graduating member who has earned the highest scholastic
average in his/her total undergraduate program.
Beta Gamma Sigma Award—Joseph E. Donlon
An award presented by Beta Gamma Sigma Beta of Michigan Chapter to a graduating
member in recognition of outstanding academic achievement.
Computer and Information Systems Certificate—Benjamin T. Borowiak,
Jay R. Gangopadhyay
A certificate presented annually to graduating students in Computer and Information
Systems in recognition of outstanding academic achievement.
Computer and Information Systems Award—Charmayne S. Gennette,
Habib M. Abbas
A plaque awarded annually to a student in Computer and Information Systems
who has demonstrated outstanding scholastic achievement and shows exceptional
promise as a scholar in this field.
Co-op Student of the Year—Allison M. Dillard
An award presented to the student selected by the Career Education Center
for exceptional ability and potential in the student’s career field.
Dean’s Leadership Key—Judith M. Atwood, Michael P. Simon
A key given annually to graduating seniors who have demonstrated outstanding
qualities of leadership and involvement in University approved co-curricular
activities and, at the same time, have maintained overall academic excellence.
Dean’s Award—Lindita Dedaj, Allison M. Dillard, Megan
E. Husek, Jonathan S. Keehn, Marc L. Miles, Donna J. Nolasco, Loren A. Tirone
A certificate awarded to graduating seniors having an optimum record of student
leadership and service to the College.
Finance Award—Jonathan S. Keehn, Timothy D. Kruszyna, Alison
R. Nawrocki
An award presented to a student in Finance who has demonstrated outstanding
scholastic achievement and shows exceptional promise as a scholar in this
field.
Financial Executives International Award—Kevin Kistulenutz,
Donna J. Nolasco
Inscription of name on a plaque and recognition at a dinner meeting given
by the Financial Executives International Detroit Chapter presented to the
outstanding undergraduate student in Accounting and/or Finance.
Fitzgerald Award—Donna J. Nolasco
An award given each year in the name of Dr. Lloyd E. Fitzgerald who was Dean
of the College of Commerce and Finance from 1935 to 1963, to the graduating
Business Administration senior designated as having the optimum record of
scholarship, student leadership and service to the University.
Business Admiinstration Award—Judith M. Atwood, Lindita Dedaj,
Joseph E. Donlon, Loren A. Tirone, Florine W. Tyler
A certificate presented annually by the Dean of the College of Business Administration
to graduating students in Business Administration in recognition of outstanding
academic achievement in the College.
IMA Student Excellence Award— Jonathan S. Keehn
Inscription of name on a plaque, a $200 cash award and recognition as a dinner
meeting of the Detroit Metro Chapter of he Institute of Management Accountants
to an outstanding undergraduate student in Accounting or Finance.
International Business Award—Allison M. Diakow
A plaque and a cash award of $500 presented to a graduating student concentrating
in International Business who has demonstrated scholastic excellence in the
College of Business Administration. This award is made possible through the
generosity and support of Professor Suk Kim.
Management Award—Sheila N. English, Maureen M. Redinger
An award presented to a graduating senior in Management who has demonstrated
outstanding scholastic achievement and shows exceptional promise as a scholar
in this field.
Marketing Award—Allison M. Dillard, Marc L. Miles
An award presented to a graduating senior in Marketing who has demonstrated
outstanding scholastic achievement and shows exceptional promise as a scholar
in this field.
MSED Scholarship Award— Allison M. Dillard, Marc L. Miles
A competitive scholarship of $2000 award to an outstanding marketing student
by the Marketing and Sales Executives of Detroit. Students are recognized
and the scholarships are presented at a dinner meeting of the MSED.
Wall Street Journal Award— Jonathan S. Keehn
A plaque citation, medallion paperweight and a year’s subscription to
The Wall Street Journal awarded each year by Dow Jones & Company, Inc.,
to the graduating Business Administration student chosen for greatest achievement
in college.
