Why Tapestry?
As you noticed when you first opened this alumni newsletter, the name has changed. The College met with the Liberal Arts & Education Alumni Council to determine a new name that best represents the diversity and cohesiveness of the CLAE. When most of us think of a tapestry, we envision a woven blanket or wallhanging. What distingues it from other coverings, however, is that a tapestry is made up of a wide variety of diverse pictures or other types of art that collectively define a particular theme or idea. Caring hands from a multitude of individuals help to create this beautiful product. The College of Liberal Arts and Education, with its diverse programs and people and common goal, is much like a tapestry.
