Faculty Tidbits

Thomas A. Hamade, professor of Chemical Engineering, received the American Institute of Chemical Engineers-Detroit Section Engineer of the Year Award last February at the 33rd Annual Gold Award Banquet of the Engineering Society of Detroit.

Shulamith Schlick, professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, was awarded a 16-month contract with General Motors to study the "Stability of Proton Exchange Membranes Used in Fuel Cell Applications," effective March 1.

Mary Tracy-Bee, associate professor of Biology, published the article, "Characterization of Melanophore Morphology by Factal Dimension Analysis," in the journal, Pigment Cell Research.

The following College of Engineering & Science faculty members were awarded promotion and/or tenure, effective August 18, 2004:

Jeffrey Boats, associate professor, Math & Computer Science, was granted tenure.

Shuvra Das, was promoted to full professor, Mechanical Engineering

Jonathan Stevens was promoted to associate professor, Chemistry/Biochemistry, and was granted tenure.

Mary Tracy-Bee, associate professor of Biology, was granted tenure.
